File a complaint with the New York State Department of Health by calling 1-888-201-4563 (available 24/7) or submitting a complaint online at health.ny.gov. You can report anonymously, and the DOH is required to investigate all complaints involving patient safety or resident rights violations.
What happens after I report a nursing home in New York?
After receiving a complaint, the New York DOH assigns investigators who conduct an unannounced on-site inspection of the facility. If violations are confirmed, the nursing home may face civil monetary penalties, corrective action plans, or in serious cases, decertification from Medicare and Medicaid programs.
Can I also file a lawsuit against a nursing home in New York?
