The neighborhood of Murray Hill is located within the Queens borough. 150th Street and 160th Street make up the east and west borders of the area.

However, in 1889 residential development began after the completion of the Murray Hill train station. The Long Island Rail Road's train station was located under 41st Avenue and 150th Street, 10.3 miles away from the Midtown Manhattan Penn Station.
They demolished the original station in 1912 and built a new one over the tracks, this time on a bridge. The LIRR would also tear this down in 1964, and currently, the station operates unmanned. In 2005, the station built a pedestrian bridge, and elevators will be added in the future.
The Queens Historical Society was created in 1968 with the sole purpose of preserving the history of Queens. The one museum is located with the Kingsland Homestead next to the Weeping Beech Park. The society's other projects include the preservation of the local cemeteries with the borough.
Charles Doughty built the house in 1785. It was bought and named after his son-in-law, Joseph King, a British sea captain, in 1801. The house would withstand two relocations before settling in the current location, where the city converted it into a museum in 1973.
On the two-acre property is another historical landmark, the Weeping Beech. This magnificent tree once stood 60 feet and lived to be 151 years before dying in 1997. Samuel Parsons planted the tree from a cutting that he purchased in Belgium. Parsons was also known for planting Central Park. The Weeping Beech was one of the two living landmarks in New York City. A funeral was held in its honor in 1998, and a local artist used part of its wood for benches and sculptures located in a trail in Flushing. Remaining in the location is a ten-foot portion of the tree that serves as a memorial.
