The victim, along with an instructor and two others were on a boat that was intentionally capsized as part of a boat safety learning program. Everyone else remained where they should have under the vessel but the boy was sucked into the propeller where he sustained fatal injuries despite the aid rendered to him by the instructor.

Another accident occurred along Montauk Highway on a curve where numerous fatal accidents have previously happened. This time, two cars collided head-on, killing one man and seriously injuring another. Their accident took place in front of a memorial for prior accident victims.
Hicksville, NY 11801 - Factory Worker Pulled Into Mixer
A 30-year-old man working in a spice factory was seriously injured when his left arm and right leg were sucked into a mixer. At the time of the accident, he was pouring a bag of ingredients into the large auger when the mixer caught the bag. He didn't let go in time and then the auger pulled him in as well.
Coram, NY 11727 - Construction Worker Hit By A Truck
A construction worker who was helping to direct traffic around a road crew was struck by a box truck. She sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

August 5th, 2019 - Experienced Paddleboarder Drowns During Class
A 49-year-old woman died during a paddleboarding class while trying to help someone. The victim was attempting to help a fellow classmate stuck in a strong current when she fell from her board. Her board tether was caught in bridge pilling and she was unable to free herself. A bystander jumped in and released her tether, taking her to shore, but his heroic actions were too late.
May 8th, 2019 - 93-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed In Collision
A driver that was coming off of the Edward Koch Queensboro Bridge hit a pedestrian and killed them. The 93-year-old woman was found at the scene by police officers and EMT's, lying on the street with serious head trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver stayed at the scene. Police are still investigating the accident.
April 8th, 2019 - Limo Company Owner Arrested For Accident That Killed 20 People
Nauman Hussain, the man who ran Prestige Limo Company with his father, has been charged with 40 felony counts, including manslaughter in the second degree and criminally negligent homicide. According to court documents, the 20-year-old man who was managing the limo company rented out a 2001 Ford Excursion limo to a party of 17 last year despite the fact that the vehicle had failed its inspection weeks prior. Additionally, the driver was not licensed to operate the vehicle. During the trip, the limo ran a stop sign at excessive speeds and crashed, killing everyone inside and two bystanders.
March 4th, 2019 - Train Accident On Long Island Kills Three
Three people that were in a vehicle are dead after the vehicle was crushed in between two trains traveling in opposite directions. Witnesses have told police that the driver was attempting to flee the scene of a minor car crash and attempted to beat the oncoming trains by going around the warning bars. The impact damaged the vehicle so badly that the first officers on the scene couldn't even determine a make or model. The accident is being investigated.
February 11th, 2019 - Married Couple & Teen Killed In Collision
A police chase ended with the deaths of three individuals on Long Island. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop when they noted a 17-year-old male driving a Nissan that had been reported stolen. Instead of stopping, the teen took off. The chase ended when the teen slammed into a car being driven by a 74-year-old man with his 71-year-old wife riding in the passenger seat. The elderly couple was killed in the collision and a teen passenger in the stolen vehicle also died. The driver has been arrested.
January 15th, 2019 - Pedestrian Killed In Long Island Parking Lot
A woman died in a parking lot on Merrick Road despite attempts to save her by witnesses. The police have stated that a driver was backing out of a spot and accidentally hit the gas instead of the brakes, slamming the car into the woman. Bystanders worked to get the vehicle off of her and she was rushed to the hospital but she did not survive.
December 12th, 2018 - Sanitation Worker Killed In Long Island Accident
A family is mourning the death of a loved one after he was killed in a work accident. On November 14th, 2018, the victim and two other sanitation workers were completing their route. The victim was on the side of the trash truck, waiting to hop off and collect trash. The driver of the vehicle backed up and hit another truck, crushing the victim's chest and abdomen. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.
November 27th, 2018 - Young Father Died In Multicar Crash
A deadly accident on the Long Island Expressway has claimed the life of a 31-year-old father. The accident was a chain reaction accident. First, the victim rear-ended another vehicle. When he got out of the car to speak with the person he hit, the driver of another car hit him. A fourth car rear-ended the victim's car which contained his wife and infant. His family is mourning his loss and urging accident victims to get as far off the road as possible.
October 3rd, 2018 - Two People Killed When Car Crashes Into Gas Station
Police have reported that the driver of a car and his passenger are dead after their car crashed into a gas station on Long Island. The crash caused an explosion which resulted in the car going up in flames. Those inside were only 29 and 24-years-old. The police have impounded the car and are investigating the cause of the crash.
According to Nassau County Police, a Honda minivan and a dump truck collided on Mill and Brookfields roads. One person inside of the Honda died in the accident and two were rushed to a nearby hospital to be treated for their injuries. The police have not yet determined what caused the accident but will be performing an investigation.
August 15th, 2018 - Parents Killed In Head-On Collision
On Monday, August 13th, 2018, a husband and wife were killed and their two children were seriously injured when another driver lost control of his vehicle and hit them head-on. The accident, which was caught on camera, involved a Toyota Corolla and an SUV. The driver of the Toyota, who survived the accident, lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason. Charges have not yet been filed against him, however, police are investigating the accident.
July 24th, 2018 - Boy Dies In Boating Accident
A 12-year-old boy has died in a boating accident in New York. The child was being pulled behind his father's boat on a tube with a friend when the driver of the boat made a turn at a high speed to avoid hitting another watercraft. Instead, the victim hit the side of the other watercraft at a high speed. He sustained massive internal damage and died as a result.
June 12th, 2018 - Three Teens Killed When Unlicensed Driver Loses Control
Three teenagers lost their lives when a 15-year-old driver lost control of the stolen vehicle she was driving. Shortly after the owner of the car reported it stolen police were called the scene of a horrific accident. A total of nine people were in the vehicle, including the driver's 18-month-old baby. The three that died were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident and were thrown from the vehicle. Police have arrested the driver and charged her with manslaughter.
May 22nd, 2018 - Prosecutors Announce Driver In Deadly Accident Was Going 154 mph
In February 2018, a 23-year-old man stole a vehicle which was soon identified by police. A chase took place with the driver of the stolen vehicle reaching a top speed of 154 mph - faster than the speed a jet takes off at. The chase ended when the driver hit several other vehicles including a car carrying a family and an oil truck. A total of 5 people died and the man is now facing multiple charges.
April 18th, 2018 - New York Workers' Comp Board Proposal
The New York Workers' Compensation Board has proposed changes to medical care for injured workers that would hopefully mean that the care they receive would be better. Proposed changes include a universal claim form, increased payments to medical providers, and improvements to the online portal.
March 20th, 2018 - Long Island Teen Killed In Go-Kart Accident
Hailee Steinfeld, an actress and singer known for her role in Pitch Perfect, performed at a vigil held for a Long Island teen after one of the go-kart accident victim's teacher tweeteed at her. The 16-year-old victim was honored by her teachers and fellow students after she died the Friday before. An investigation into what caused the accident is ongoing.
February 14th, 2018 - Patchogue Man Killed After Being Hit By A Pickup Truck
A 33-year-old man was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the street on North Ocean Avenue in Patchogue. Despite being rushed to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, he died from his injuries. The police are continuing to investigate the accident.
December 7th, 2017 - Construction Worker Hit By Truck
An investigation has been launched after a construction worker who was helping to direct traffic with a slow / stop sign was struck by a box truck. The 19-year-old driver of the box truck allegedly drifted into the worker causing her to be critically injured.
November 8th, 2017 - Impaired Driver Causes 5 Car Crash
A driver who was under the influence of both drugs and alcohol was on the LIE when he lost control of his Dodge truck and slammed into a Mazda. The impact from this collision caused the Mazda to hit a Subaru which in turn hit a Jeep. The Jeep then hit a second Subaru. The accident resulted in several lanes being shut down for hours and at least four of the victims were taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
October 6th, 2017 - Eleven Officers Hurt By An Inmate
While transporting a prisoner to and from a Criminal Court, 11 corrections officers were injured. The attack occurred when the inmate refused to go into his cell and instead managed to break a piece of pipe off of the wall. He then used it as a weapon to beat the corrections officers while they attempted to get him under control. Several of the officers were transferred to the hospital after the incident.
August 15th, 2017 - Three Killed & Four Injured In Head-On Collision On Long Island
The driver of a passenger vehicle lost control of his vehicle crossed the center line and hit an SUV head on. Both the driver and passenger in the car were thrown from the vehicle and killed.
