Palmer used gentle pressure and manipulation to adjust the man's spine and the janitor reported feeling immediate relief. A few days later, he also noted that his hearing had improved.
Two years later, Palmer opened the Palmer School of Chiropractic. Within two decades, chiropractic care was recognized as an official form of medicine in the United States and anyone practicing this form of medicine had to be licensed.
