Historic Castle

Home to West Hills, NY, is the Oheka Castle, also referred to as the Otto Kahn Estate. The castle was home to Otto Hermann Kahn, a German-born American investment banker, collector, philanthropist, and arts patron.

The name "Oheka" is an acronym using the first several letters of each part of its creator's name, Otto Hermann Kahn. Kahn also used the acronym to name his yacht Oheka II and his ocean-front Villa in Palm Beach, Florida.

The mansion was built by Otto Hermann Kahn between 1914 and 1919. With 127 rooms and over 109,000 square feet, the home is the second-largest private home in the United States. The entirety of the Otto Kahn Estate estate spans 23.2 acres.

Today, the castle is a historic hotel, with 32 guest rooms and suites. The hotel is a popular wedding venue for socialites, celebrities, and dignitaries and the backdrop to many photo shoots, television series, and Hollywood films.

The estate also offers a bar, restaurant, and mansion tours of the estate and gardens.

Oheka Castle is a member of Historic Hotels of America, the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Additionally, in 2004, the Oheka Castle was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
