About

The Louis Armstrong House Museum promotes the historical, cultural, and philanthropic heritage of Louis Armstrong. The Museum houses tons of artifacts and archival materials, and documentation from Armstrong's home and the surroundings of it.

Through the use of public programs, concerts, exhibits, workshops, and video screenings, the Armstrong Museum can present his life and legacy.

Collections

The Louis Armstrong Collection is made up of over 1,600 albums belonging to Louis and Lucile, and well as 650 home videotapes displaying his life. There are also thousands of photographs on display, letters, manuscripts, musical instruments, scrapbooks, and much more.

The Satchmo Collection is a continually expanding archive of Armstrong-related artifacts donated by relatives, supporters, and enthusiasts from Armstrong to the Museum. A few artifacts on display is a 1934 Selmer trumpet that was given to Armstrong by King George V of England and two scrapbooks donated by Arvell Shaw.

The Institutional History Collection is made up of videos showing musical performances, photographs, past exhibits, new stories, newspapers, magazine covers, and so many more materials dating back to 1986.

The Jack Bradley Collection is comprised of the world's largest Armstrong memorabilia, acquired from a private collector. The collection shows almost every released recording from Armstrong, including films, personal items, letters, and more.

The Louis Armstrong House Collections features all the furniture, paintings, decor, appliances, and other artifacts that were left behind after the passing of both Louis and Lucille.
