Tuesday, November 3, a 70-year-old woman was fatally killed in a hit and run accident involving an MTA bus driver.
The accident happened in the Ocean Hill section. Police state the victim, Carol Bell from Brooklyn, was hit by the bus when it was making a right turn while she was attempting to cross the street. The bus allegedly kept going. Sadly, Carol died on the scene.
The bus driver was later caught and arrested on charges that included leaving an accident scene and failing to give way to a pedestrian.
21 year old, Justin Ferington, was found unconscious in a ditch in Newfane on Tuesday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe Ferington lost control of his motorcycle causing him to go off the road and run into a telephone pole.
The crash is currently under investigation by The Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
A head-on crash in upstate New York killed an infant and injured four other people.
The crash took place on Monday in the early evening hours on Route 9 in Kinderhook, Columbia County. A man driving a BMW from Hudson crossed the center lane causing him to collide with the Nissan Rouge that carried the 10-month-old infant.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
The infant died in the crash and four other people who were in the crash are in recovery from injuries that are not life-threatening.
An SUV struck and killed a 72-year-old as he was crossing a Brooklyn Street. This accident happened on Sunday, November, 1st.
The man was identified as Mitchel Darroux, he was found unconscious and not responding on the pavement. The man was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The 63-year-old driver of the Ford Explorer SUV who struck the man remained on the at the scene. This accident is under investigation and no arrests have been made.
A Skidmore College student was hit and killed by a car. The student was walking near his campus.
The 19-year-old student, Michael Hedges from Lenox Massachusetts, was one of three students walking on a street near their campus on Saturday, October 31st. The men sustained grave lower extremity injuries.
Michael Hedges was transported to Albany Medical Center, where he passed away on Sunday a little before 6.00 a.m.
The driver of the car has been arrested and charged with a DWI and vehicular assault.
Off duty officer, Alexis Penate from Highland Mills, New York, is in critical condition after losing control of his Jeep after rear-ending another car.
State police say the accident took place on Sunday night at Woodbury between exists 15A and 16. The police officer is in critical condition and was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment of head trauma and internal injuries.
Police are investigating the accident, however, the driver and passenger of the rear-ended car did not suffer injuries.
Halloween trick-or-treaters were struck by an out-of-control car on Saturday, October 31st. The victims were a 10
year-old girl and a 24-year-old man who died in hospital, and a 65-year-old man who died on the scene. The other four victims were treated for other injuries sustained.
The accident took place a little before 5 p.m. when a group of trick-or-treaters was walking down a quiet residential block in Morris Park, Bronx.
The driver responsible for this crash is a 52-year-old man who was driving a black Dodge Charger. He rammed into the group as they were walking on a sidewalk and smashed into a fence in front of a home. Police say the man crossed a double yellow line into the road after he bumped the back of a Toyota Camry.
