tudor city car accident attorney near tower

This article is presented by the car accident attorneys in Tudor City, NY who would like to offer a detailed excerpt about the area.

Tudor City is a residential community located on the southern edge of Turtle Bay on the East Side of Manhattan in New York City, near Turtle Bay's border with Murray Hill. The nice area hosts a large green park area for its 5,000 residents and visitors to relax and enjoy the view of the city.

The area is commonly known for the sign atop Prospect Tower which was built by Fred F. French Company and titled a New York City landmark. Tudor City has also been listed as a historic district by the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Historic Background

The construction of Tudor City commenced in 1926 as one of the first, largest, and most important examples of a planned middle-class residential community in New York City.

The area is named for its Tudor Revival architecture which combined 16th-century English forms Tudor and Elizabethan architecture. In the early 20th century, Tudor architectural motifs were used to symbolize the comforts of suburban life. However, because Tudor City was an urban response to the suburban flight of the middle class, the area was designed with the architectural forms expected in suburban development.

The Buildings of Tudor City

Tudor City is comprised of 13 buildings, 11 of which are co-op apartment buildings, one all rental building, and one transient hotel. The most commonly known buildings of Tudor City Place, mainly for their immense height, are Prospect Tower, Tudor Tower, and Windsor Tower.

Prospect Tower

  • Prospect Tower is known for its gothic design, 1920s facade, and it captivating rooftop. Of the Tudor City complex, Prospect Tower is considered the grande dame. The lobby’s walls are lined with stained glass panels and arched entryways. The building is well maintained and monitored with fantastic amenities such as a gym, bike room, storage, and a roof deck with views of the Chrysler Building and Midtown skyline.

Tudor Tower

  • Tudor Tower, completed in 1929, is a historic Gothic Revival building. The building features an ornate pre-war facade with a grand lobby. In the lobby, you will find stained glass windows and dark wood accents. Residents have access to a rooftop deck, garden, fitness room, laundry room, and storage units.

Windsor Tower

  • Windsor is, by far, the grandest building in the famous Tudor City complex. Atop the brown-brick are highly decorative, multi-paned windows to exude the look of a Tudor palace.
  • Along the street view, the three-story windows that crown three of Tudor City's towers appear immensely luxurious. While you can catch a glimpse from the outside, nothing compares to the view of the three-story living rooms of 14 units, some with terraces trimmed with gargoyles.
  • The building, along with Prospect Tower and Tudor Tower, is set on a well-landscaped tree-lined street directly across from the privately-owned Tudor City Park and Garden.
