History

Between the mid 17th century and the 19th century, West Bronx consisted of the Town of Yonkers until it became the Town of Kingsbridge. In the late 1800s, West Bronx was considered the "Annexed District" following 1874 when Kingsbridge, Morrisania, and West Farms became the first neighborhoods outside of Manhattan to be annexed by New York City.
